Sun Down Oak Poppasquash Point

This classic New England shingle-style home belongs to one of our favorite returning clients. The design team on this home included a local architect who specializes in oceanfront properties along with a highly-regarded custom home builder. Reclaimed wood beams and columns along with an antique stone mosaic floor are juxtaposed with contemporary elements such as steel staircases and mirrored walls to create visual tension between old and new. A recurring bee motif was inspired by the homeowner’s own apiary, notably on the gold bee detail in the pantry backsplash tile and on the artist-commissioned hand painted glass barn door in the study. Natural hues were selected for fabrics and finishes to mirror the resplendent gardens and views.
