Mountain Ridge Compound Vermont
A family of competitive skiers built this home on mountain-side property to look like an old farmhouse. Their love of hosting large parties and casual family gatherings dictated the scale and flow of the public rooms while allowing everyone to have their own private spaces for reading, enjoying the views, or working on their skis in the professional grade “ski tuning” room. We drew attention to the relationship between old and new by mixing rustic counterpoints with contemporary lighting and finishes in warm, vibrant colors and patterns. In the upper level Rec Room, we clad the eaves and cupola in locally reclaimed wood panels. The Kitchen/dining area has open shelving so guests can serve themselves, while sliding glass and bronze doors and panels help to separate adjoining spaces to provide a soft division between them. This is a home perfectly suited for parties, sport, and quiet contemplation.
