Historic Hopelands Renovation Rhode Island
Our clients acquired this significant National Register home on Indian Avenue in Newport to host their large family and to provide plenty of entertaining space. The whitewashed brick house had distinct blue shutters that recalled the homes in Normandy, and the interiors were to continue this reflection of the family’s travels. Each of the five children were asked to choose a country for their bedrooms, resulting in Italy, France, Ireland, Turkey and Greece as design influence guides, with the parents opting for a Master Suite in classic Newport style. The challenge was to choose the precise colorways and patterns that evoked these favored places, while incorporating pieces from their significant art collection. We interpreted each aesthetic through subtle but reinvented textures and patterns with moments of vivid colors associated with each country.
